Technican: By saying the dealer "somewhat believes" its the ECU tells me what ever code or codes came across if they did in fact do a diagnostic scan, the tech may have looked in a code manual for said code(s) and found the code(s) pointed towards the ECM and dismissed it as causel cause, or he followed the flow charts to determine that the ECU is in fact at fault.I worked in a dealership for 14 years and saw way more of my share of this type of diagnosis. You need to ask what type of diagnostics were preformed to come to this assesment. Were codes retrieved, were the flow charts followed "all" the way thru. Can they provide you with said codes and test results after doing so.The reason I say this is because again "somewhat believe" just dosen't make sensc to me when if they are a Ford dealership and have all the factory manuals, equipment and direct tie in with factory techs via computer, an answer like that would have me contacting Ford itself.
