1996 Ford Contour Vibration - Engine

Question: excessive vibration from engine into steering weheel and fron passenger compartment. worst when car is in gear and idling. have had car tuned, idle motor, cleaned, plugs replaced......engine light is on solid also, , , , is this in the on board computer???

Technican: Light is from the computer. Roughness is either a broken mount, bad valves (1 or more) or the computer is malfunctioning. What you did not mention is if this roughness diminishes, or quits after a certain speed is reached. If so, you probably need a valve job done on the engine.
