Technican: Chances are pretty good that you have a lot of sludge.. I would attempt to drain the oil and replace one quart with kerosene or diesel. Let run at idle until warm. Drain the oil and replace the oil filter. Fill the engine with oil and run again.. see what the results are.. Try to repeat this once more if you still have the noise upon warm up. If this does not work then you are stuck replacing the pump and stainer. While down there I would also replace the bearings depending upon milage and how well the engine was maintained.
