1993 Ford Escort Won't Start - Fuel System
Question: hello, escort 1993, 1.8i, estate, UK model.
When turn the ignition i cant hear the fuel pump any more (which normaly makes a buzzing like noise).
I've been told to wait for a couple of seconds untill the noise is off and then turn the ignition to start the engine. Last time i turned the key but had to turn it off again twice because i had a phone call and ever since i got the problem.
The engine turns but it doesn't fire up (no fuel to the carb??)

Technican: The first thing you want to do is find the fuel pump and test for power at the hot lead if already grounded or test at both wires for power.
next if needed disconnect the line [out] of the pump to see if there is a flow of fuel
drain into a container.
Owner: 1)THERE IS NO POWER LEADING TO THE PUMP. IT WORKED BEFORE, IT DOESN'T NOW.ITS NOT A POWER PROBLEM ON THE PUMP IT SELF.
2)THE FUEL PUMP CANNOT PUMP ANY FUEL IF IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!
ARE YOU SURE WE ARE TKING ABOUT THE SAME CAR???
Technican: Did you turn on the ignition before testing for power?
If you did that and there is no power now do a good check on your fuses and find the one designated for the pump, turn on the key and see if there is power coming out of the fuse to the pump it will be connected to ignition on power
