1993 Ford Explorer Malfunction - General
Question: Our 93 Explorer 4WD has had a couple of episodes where the oil pressure drops down nearly to zero while we are driving. It also seems to lose a bit of power when this happens. Most of my research seems to indicate that the oil pressure sending unit (?) needs to be replaced. Does this sound like an accurate diagnosis?
I am unable to find the location of this part in the repair manual. Can anyone tell me where it may be located? Is it going to be hard to replace? And is it expensive? I am hoping to get some answers while my husband still has the car in pieces in the driveway! Can someone help me out??

Technican: Hello, To verify how much oil pressure the engine has I remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a gauge on a line long enough to tape the gauge to the windshield for a test drive.
The oil pressure sending unit screws into the oil pump area near the oil filter on the engine. It will have an electrical connector that comes off and then a deep socket or box end wrench will remove the sensor.
