1993 Ford Explorer Other - Engine
Question: I had talk to len i beleave on a coolent problum,
now i have number 5 cylinder burning oil on a reman
engine. How can i go about finding out why. I put
140 miles on engine and is down 1 qt, the plug is black.

You will have to do a dry and wet compression test. Do the test dry first and then putt a couple of drops of oil in the cylinder. If the compression comes up then most likely is going to be a piston ring. If it does not come up then it will be a bad valve stem seal or guide. . both times, how much of a diffrence would there be
if i only removed the one spark plug?

There would be more of a difference if you pull out all the plugs. the engine will spin more freely. Sounds like you have a valve stem seal leaking. Hope is the easy side to get to.
