1994 Ford Explorer Lagging - Engine
Question: ok, here it is
I'm getting codes 536 and 538 in running mode and codes 13 and 33 in key on mode.
while driving it really lags in power and the engine temp tends to run towards the hot side.
but sometimes it will just open right up and run normal.
now I know it is either the injectors or the cam sensor.
my question is with these symptoms which sounds like the more likely thing?

Technican: Hi;
the only code I would be worried about would be code 33. Looking at my book this is an egr valve code "EGR Valve not opening". If this aint it I would be checking fuel filter and doing fuel pressure test. . Owner: I replaced the egr valve and cleared the codes from cpu and I am still getting the code 33 Technican: Hi;
How did you erase the codes? To clear the codes you must start the KOEO test and as soon as the codes start flashing then disconnect the jumper. Unless you are using a scan tool to clear the codes. Also you want to reset your base idle. Do this by disconnecting the IAC valve and turn your throttle adjusting screw until it just about dies. At this time shut it off and disconnect your battery for at least 5 Minutes. Reconnect your IAC valve and the battery. Start the engine at let run in reverse if auto or neutral if standard for 2 minutes. Make sure all accesories are off. The engine should idle up and then start idling down until it resets the base idle. Thanks. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
