Question: Hello, I have a blower motor that has a mind of its own. When the switch is ON, the blower comes on intermittantly, independantly of any heater/air conditioner setting. Might come on for one second, or several minutes. Might stay off for several minutes. Seems to do it less when the engine is warm. Recently put in a new fan speed switch, but that did not fix it. Fans speeds work ok when fan is working. Nelson

Technican: I'm working on this for you, seems I have had this quest before and I'll get you some info by tomorrow the 26th. Technican: Nelson, You said when the blower fan is working that you can select the different speeds okay.
Look closely at the wiring connector and terminals at the blower motor itself. You may find signs of heat damage to the terminals because they are not clean and tight. Also please note that the older a blower motor is it can become harder to turn. That would call for more amps to run the motor and be another reason for heat at the connection terminals.
Please advise. Owner: Hello, thank you - I'm gonna take a hard look at that connector tomorrow afternoon. Then I get back to you with my observations. Nelson Technican: Okay, I await your news. Owner: Hello, I pulled the connector off of the fan blower motor and it looks pristine - no sign of arcing or burning. One thing I observed this morning is that the blower was blowing fine (after 15 minutes of engine warm up, it came on), then when I actuated the drivers electric window, it turned off exactly at the same time. Sort of tells me there is an intermittant connection somewhere that is sensitive to engine heat but more so to electrical draw ... ??? Nelson Technican: I'll look into what is in common and get back to you. I think i worked a similar question before! Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
