1995 Ford Explorer Hesitating - Engine
Question: Every time I start the engine cold for the first five to ten minutes the engine hesitates unless I push the gas hard then it takes off like a bullet. This is very consistent. Never after 5-10 minutes. I've changed the Air filter, spark plugs and wires. The temperature gauge doesn't seem to read accuratley but may not be related. If you have any Ideas they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Technican: Sounds like it could be a bad coolant temperature sensor. This is a 2-wire sensor that tells the computer what temperature the engine is. This is unrelated to the temperature guage. Owner: Thank you. Are there more than one temperature sensors, and if so which one should I check? Does this not sound like a fuel problem? Thanks again.
Adam Technican: You need to look at the 2-wire sensor (light green/red wire and gray/red wire) below the intake hose, on the front of the engine. I feel the first place to look is this sensor because your problem goes away when the temperature changes. The computer determines the amount of fuel to inject using the coolant temperature sensor as one of the key sensors. Owner: Thank you for your time. I was prompted to click an "ok" button to pay for your response, however I have not been delivered any type of invoice for your services. How much am I expected to pay? I was asked to offer a donation to submit my original question, and did not make any prearranged agreement to pay for these services. I was left to assume the cost of your time was covered perhaps by advertising throughout the website. If there is a balance due please respond with that total for further negotiation. Again thank you for your time. Technican: Adam,
When you click the button OK to PAY, then the donation arrangement you made will be processed. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
