1995 Ford Explorer Malfunction - Heating & Cooling System
Question: I have climate controll and it seems to get mixed up on the fan settings. When i have the max air on air comes out the vent ok but when i accelerate it moves to the defrost. When the vent is pushed air becomes hot. When I have the vent/floor it seems ok but not as cool as before this problem started and seems to have some outside air. You can feel the humidity. You had a simular question and indicated it might be a sticky mixing door. How is that repaired if that is what is seems. My mech. said it was the ac control module bu i didn't believe him, this seems to be more machanical where the module is probably all electronic. Thanks!

Owner: Great catch, but no cigar, yet. I did find a vacume leak in the hose from the engine to the reservoir but that didn't fixe it. There is vacume now going into the reservoir. Under the dash there is a connection that splits the vacume into two lines, one goes to a round thing, the other one I don't know where it goes. The line the line goes to the round thing doesn't seem to have a vacuum. Does that mean there must be a leak between the reservoir and the round thing. Didn't see anything that looked like a check valve, but the line from the reservoir is hard to see all the way to the fire wall. Any suggestions? Technican: Yes it is very mechanical and you are right it is not your module
Somewhere in the vacuum supply to the Air conditioning controls is a check valve between the engine and the reservoir.
The purpose of the check valve is to eliminate the problem you are having.
Your check valve may have failed or you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Technican: yes there should be a vacume comming out of the wye so check that splitter and see if one side is clogged or you can connect the one with the vacume to the valve and see if there is a difference in suction Owner: I blew the line from the reservoir out with air. I can blow through it both ways but it does not flow freely. The vacuum out of the reservoir is not that great. I test drove it and it was better but if you accelerated a lot the blower still reverted to the defrost. When i let off it quickly came back to the vent. Could the reservoir be clogged and preventing a good suction out? iS there a check valve between the reservoir and the fire wall that may be causing a restriction? tHANKS! Technican: there seems to be a vacume problem there with reservior you will need to trace it back to the intake to see why the vacume is not strong enough Owner: COULD IT NOT BE IN THE RESERVIOR? DON'T KNOW WHAT IS IN THERE, BUT THE VACUME INTO IT SEEMS TO BE PRETTY STRONG. I WILL RECHECK FROM RES. BACK! Technican: thats good check ok the other line and let me know Owner: Took the vacume bottle off and checked it, and in the process it split in the middle. Too much air i guess. get new one Monday and recheck. have check all lines and they seem to be ok. we will see. Technican: ok Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
