Technican: Hello, I'm thinking you can do this and I'm going to try to identify where solenoid B is. Do you have a 4WD? Which engine?
The 1995 and later models use a 4R44E trans with the four-cylinder and the 3.0L V6 engine. The 4.0L uses the 4R55E trans.
Do you have a FAX number? Owner: Hey thanks:
heres my fax number at work please put attn: JIm Budd
561-842-7776.
By the way I have a 4 liter 2 wheel drive. Technican: According to Mark at Prestige Ford Parts Department in Edmond, Oklahoma...The shift solenoids are in the transmission valve body. They are sold individually and are labeled SS1, SS2, & SS3.
Are you comfortable with removing the valve body to make this repair? The valve body is inside the transmission pan and is the first thing you see after you remove the trans pan and filter. Mark says with the valve body removed the repair is easy not to mention messy. New solenoid, filter, pan gasket and fluid and you're good to go.
I found only a wiring diagram for your transmission in the Mitchell 1 Data Base called OnDemand5. I'll FAX it to you. I did not find step by step instructions for the solenoid replacement. Owner: Hey thanks for the feed back. I think i can handle pulling the valve body and replacing the soleniod. you wouldn't have a picture of the valve body by any chance ????If not I'll figure it out.
