Technican: Hello, I'm thinking that the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid is the problem. A road test with a scanner monitoring this solenoid's response to computer commands would be conclusive.
OBD II code readers cannot read all codes on a Ford. Scanners can do interactive drivetrain parameter value searches and check to see what happens when the condition shows itself.
If you don't have access to a scanner you'll want to road test with a technician who has one for his diagnosis and recommendation. The TCC solenoid is inside the transmission pan and does not require going deep to get it. The estimate should be around $200 to replace it and service the filter and fluid.
