Technican: Hello, Have you found where the fuel filter is located on the vehicle frame near the fuel tank?
Your SUV is fuel injected and the fuel system is pressurized even when the engine is OFF. You must be aware of this pressure when you change the filter because when you release the fuel line from the filter, fuel will spray (can get in your eyes) until the pressure is relieved.
1. Loosen the gas cap to relieve any pressure in the tank. (this does not relieve fuel pressure in the fuel lines)
2. Locate the filter on the vehicle.
3. Determine how the lines connect to the filter. Most have a plastic clip style retainer that can be squeezed together and allow the line to slip past and be released. Some need a wrench to disconnect the line.
4. Wrap a rag around the fuel line leaving room for you to work but in a manner to deflect/absorb/control the fuel that will spray when the pressure is released. Release the first fuel line retainer. Release the other connection to the filter. Remove the filter.
5.Align and install the new filter in place and ensure that the direction of flow through the filter will be correct. Connect the fuel lines to both ends of the filter and ensure the retainers fully engage or the line will come off when the system pressurizes again.
6. Tighten the gas cap, start the vehicle and inspect the filter line connections for leaks. Correct as needed.

Owner: I have already done as you said My promblem is that cannot remove the fuel lines I have removed the clips and disconnected the shock sensor and cranked engine with no avail Please help
Technican: Are you trying to release the clear plastic clips that should (when squeezed together) allow the black plastic fuel line to slip past and come off? I use a small pair of channel lock pliers rather than needle nose or water pump pliers as the bite is more uniform and effective. It takes some effort to pull the line free as you can't squeeze the clips too hard and you have to be ready for that fuel that will escape.
