Technican: Hello, The problem must be duplicated to be properly diagnosed.
What can you do and expect the failure to occur? Is it always all power windows inop at the same time when the condition is present? Do they "wake up" if you shut the drivers door hard? Do they work with the door closed and not when it is fully open?
You've stated you hear the power from the rear wipers going... does the arm not sweep or try to?
When the front wipers work, do all functions work? When front wipers do not work, do they just stay "parked" and not try to move?
Does your climate include ice on the w/shield that the wipers have strained against to try and start before it was realized the blades were frozen?
These questions will guide my trying to help.
Please advise. Owner: Just this morning when i turned on the ignition i must have left the car wipers in the on position, they sweeped across the windshield one time.
I did not check the rear ones at that time.
But the power windows did not work at all no matter how many times i tried them.
I also tried disengaging the fuses to see if maybe they were disconnected or something, no luck.
As for the climate question......this is a new situation so i would have to say it is not a factor......
What do you think? Technican: It's been my experience that when wipers won't work in any function and then the next thing you know they work normally in all functions/speeds, the motor is at fault. Straining against ice on the windshield can cause the motor to bind. Time wears the bushings that serve as bearing surfaces for the motor armature, also allowing the motor to bind when wipers PARK.
When a wiper motor runs but a blade arm won't sweep, the arm needs to be removed and the wiper transmission splines need to be cleaned of stripped metal particles and the arm remounted in proper position. The clean splines will grip the arm again and restore operation.
Power windows are powered by a circuit breaker. If when the windows are inop is only the driver's switch effected and the others will work? No? Drivers switch is at fault if circuit breaker is OK, or the wire in the flex boot for the driver's door wiring harness has broken. (It's the black rubber boot between the door hinges in the door jam.) Owner: Hello,
upon coming home from work this evening the outside temperature dropped to 72 degrees instead of the 85 or more temperature we have had recently. before I turned the ignition on i put the wippers in the on position for the front and rear wippers. to my surprise all systems were going including the power windows and sun roof. How would climate be a factor in this situation ? Or is it? Technican: I should receive wiring info today on your 1999 Explorer. I'll get back to you. Climate (heat) may be a factor here since everything goes away or comes back together. (wipers, windows, sunroof.) Might be a relay? Technican: Nope, I didn't get to the shop resources as planned today. I will make it happen tomorrow. Will that be alright with you? Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
