2000 Ford Explorer Malfunction - Chassis, Suspension & Steering
Question: After reaching approx. 3 MPH and thereafter when you brake, the brake pedal will drop a slight bit. This occurs at about the 3 MPH area coming back down. The pedal will drop about 1/4 in. It also feels like the ABS pulsing begins. Of course at that speed the vehicle is almost stopped. I disconnected the plug to the hydraulic motor and the problem goes away. There are no codes or problem lights.

If you give me the engine size, 4wd, etc., I'll check to see if there are any known common problems with the system. There is not a special warranty that I'm aware of, but I'll look so please give mileage also.
I prefer conventional brakes to malfunctioning abs brakes. I would leave the abs controller unplugged at this time. What you choose to do is your decision. Do you understand how to use conventional brakes vs ABS? Owner: V6 SOHC
