2000 Ford Explorer Malfunction - Engine
Question: I have a 4.0 SOHC ford with no oil pressure, the timing tensioner on the balance shaft broke and I have fixed that, I am hearing an awful noise that I think are oil starved cams or something, I have pulled out the oil pump drive gear and noticed that the intermediate shaft was gummed up as this car has 107, 000 miles on it. I cleaned it up and I know that the pump is working because I put the shaft back in and turned it with a drill and oil shot out the sending unit hole, I still have no oil pressure, and dont know what to look at next, HELP!!!!! a new pair of eyes would be helpful I have worked on this thing for four solid days..... Technican: Since your pump is pumping, the problem is that the oil is getting away soemwhere, keeping it from building pressure. Possibilities: crank bearings, cam bearings.... Try blowing air pressure through the oil galley and see if you can locate (hear) where the most air is coming from. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
