1975 Ford F-100 Pick-up Other - General

Question: When I put it in drive I get first gear. Second gear stays second and if I try to manual shift to drive it goes to first gear. I have park just not drive. We did have a problem with putting it in park it would go to far and stopped truck from starting. We changed the filter and fluid - looked fine. Any sugg. or do I need to replace tranny?

Technican: If you place the transmittion into drive at the tranny what happens?? same questionfor low 1 and low 2. Let me know.. sounds like it is your linkage that has a problem.
Technican: Hi; Sounds like a valve inside the valve body is sticking. You might be better off taking it to a transmission shop and have them check it out. .
