1985 Ford F-150 Pick-up Malfunction - Engine

Question: 17 year old daughter is doing 80% of the work to repair her pickup, which she rolled two years ago. She's got it running, almost ready to re-paint. Good lesson for her! BUT: it backfires on start, dies on corners, misses horribly, etc. Partial solution, we seem to have lost a vacuum line or two over the last couple of years. Plug stuff with your finger and it runs much better!! Where can I get a really good diagram for her vacuum lines? Our manual and the engine sticker are worse than useless, especially since there's another sticker saying there's been emission modifications due to a recall (before we bought the truck). The main culprit seems to be a sort of vacuum-line-manifold with multiple lines underneath the carburetor. Found one end for a missing line on the manifold (don't know what else to call it--can't find it in our book) but can't find where the other end is supposed to go. Help?

Owner: Maybe it would be helpful to add that the motor is a 300ci in-line with a NP435 tranny?
Owner: OK, confusion reigns!! Did the motor and tranny configuration make it through or not?
Technican: Yes it made it though. Checking for diagrams. Be back soon.
Owner: Can I wait for a usable answer before I click-to-pay? I'll wait patiently but I've looked for a good diagram, also, and haven't found one that works, yet. I love my Ford trucks (got three of them) but I hate Ford dealerships. I'm sure y'all know why!! Of course, I live in the boonies of the desert Southwest and don't have a lot of resources outside the WWW.
Technican: I hope this works this time. I had trouble with my internet connection and keep having to log back in. I have found some diagrams. Email me and I'll send them, be sure to put 'ford truck' in subject line. And yes, you pay if and when you desire to. I hear so many complaints about ford service in so many areas. Ironically the one in my hometown is great. They are under fresh management, so it wasn't always this way. A friend has taken his car in for troubleshooting on two occasions and wasn't charged a dime. And he didn't buy the car there. With the price of cars today the dealers should bend over backwards to satisfy customers.
Owner: Excellent!! I'll be back with you shortly, and my Ford dealer charged me $600.00 for a diagnostic, changing the plugs and plug wires. And stripped the drain plug on my oil pan as a bonus for the oil change. Email Ford Motor Company about it and I bad-mouth them every chance I get. I had a different job then and not much free time. I make the time now to maintain my own vehicles.
