Ford F 250 Pick up Car Answers1986 F 250 Pick up Drive Train & Driveline MalfunctionHello--My Ford is being used as a plowtruck. My transmission has WAYS been seviced well. The problem started occuring when we had a LOT of snow and I overheated the transmission. I noticed it was taking a few seconds to engage when switching gears. So I stopped immediately. After cooling, I noticed that it was taking a LONG time to engage into Reverse. Then---I added a quart of Type F Transmission fluid--because it was not showing any good signs of where the level was at I figured (possibly fatally) that I would add a quart. After that I cannot even get the transmission to engage AT L. Not even a hint. Did I add too much? Could it be electrical, because also what happened (BEFORE the transmission went out) is that I couldn't start the engine because I couldn't get the Auto transmission into either PARK or NEUTR to start it---so I have been buypassing the solenoid?? Could THAT have something to do with it?? I checked the fuel pressure with just the key on and it is about 25psi and drops. when the truck is running it is a little lower and drops as the truck dies. if i wait a couple of minutes it will start again but do the same thing etc. Is that a bad fuel pump if so is it the inline one or the one in the tank. if it is the one in the tank i have read you should replace both of the pumps in the tank (2 tanks) is that true1989 F 250 Pick up Fuel System StallingWe just rebuilt the engine in the truck. Then one morning the brake light came on and the brakes went down (previous owner said there was a leak in the master cylinder). Then the engine began stalling during driving with increasing frequency. Now, I can only go a block and it chugs and stalls. It idles nicely. I have rebuilt the carberator, new plugs and wires, replaced fuel line and filter.
