1984 Ford F-250 Pick-up Stalling - Fuel System

Question: I bought this truck for $500 last week and it ran okay for 3-4 days. Then one morning the brake light came on and the brakes went down (previous owner said there was a leak in the master cylinder). Then the engine began stalling during driving with increasing frequency. Now, I can only go a block and it chugs and stalls. It idles nicely. I have rebuilt the carberator, new plugs and wires, replaced fuel line and filter. Could this problem be caused by a weak fuel pump or is it some vacuum problem related to the master cylinder?

Technican: Pinch off or plug the vacuum hose to the master cylinder. Is problem gone? How long does it take to restart after it stalls? Will engine rev okay in park (or neutral), if it won't do so repeatedly it is likely starving for fuel. To confirm this squirt carb cleaner down carb and try revving engine, do this at your own risk and follow safety precautions on can. Other things to look for is plugged exhaust (cat. converter) or lack of spark.
Owner: Thank you for your reply, the engine starts after stalling. When I put it in gear, then it stalls again and sounds like it is sucking air.
Owner: When pinching the hose that comes out of the diaphram behind the brake fluid container and goes to the back of the carberator, then the truck will not idle at all. After releasing the pinch, the truck now has trouble starting.
Technican: It should have idled with the hose pinched off. The carb has apparently been adjusted to run with a vacuum leak. Fix the brake booster then adjust the carb. The hose is meant to use vacuum to assist with braking. Not to provide air for the engine to run on.
