1986 Ford F-250 Pick-up Malfunction - Drive Train & DrivelineQuestion: Hello-- My Ford is being used as a plowtruck. My transmission has WAYS been seviced well. The problem started occuring when we had a LOT of snow and I overheated the transmission. I noticed it was taking a few seconds to engage when switching gears. So I stopped immediately. After cooling, I noticed that it was taking a LONG time to engage into Reverse. Then---I added a quart of Type F Transmission fluid--because it was not showing any good signs of where the level was at I figured (possibly fatally) that I would add a quart. After that I cannot even get the transmission to engage AT L. Not even a hint. Did I add too much? Could it be electrical, because also what happened (BEFORE the transmission went out) is that I couldn't start the engine because I couldn't get the Auto transmission into either PARK or NEUTR to start it---so I have been buypassing the solenoid?? Could THAT have something to do with it?? Robert Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
