1987 Ford Mustang GT Malfunction - Heating & Cooling System

Question: My 1987 ford mustang gt has a heating problem. I have change the thermostate and the heating core. The blower works fine and the air is slightly warm. I have also replaced the function switch. When I turn on the vents and fan the air goes to the defrost mode as it does when the defrost mode is on. The floor mode works fine. However the aircondition mode goes to the floor and the defrost. I cannot get anything to go through the vents. Plus when I let the air flow at a slow rate it appears much wormer. Frustrated.

Technican: Hello, you likely have a blend door control problem. It should be controlled by a cable that moves when you slide the temperature control left/right. Have you looked on the top of the heater plenum case for this cable? Is it disconnected or broken from the door or the control head? Slowing the airflow volumn across a heater core allows for a more efficient transfer of heat. What we need to do here is to direct all of the air across the core for max heat. That is the blend door's job. If the door is disconnected or broken or the cable is not calibrated/adjusted properly for full operation of the door, then temperature control is impaired.
Owner: Cable is attached and door is opening and closing. Therefore I am still searching and would like more responses. still have the problem.
Technican: Does your car use vacuum at the function switch you replaced? Is manifold vacuum present? I can try to get to the Mitchell 1 Auto Repair Data Base for more help but it may be Monday before I have something more definitive. Will that be alright with you?
Owner: I am frustrated with the problem. I can wait till Monday. I appreciate the help. It is right cold in Virginia Beach and would love to have help fixing the problem......
Owner: Yes to the vacuum question.
Technican: There remains a chance I can get to the data base yet today and if so I won't hesitate to send you my findings. I'm no quiter and I take this seriously. Have you confidence that all the air is bled out of the cooling system, it is full and the radiator cap holds pressure? What engine is in your car, please? Thank you for your patience,
Owner: Engine is a 5.0
Technican: Thank you, that may help me in my search.
Technican: The public library here offers free access to the Mitchell 1 Auto Repair Data Base. Does your library have this service? When I got to the library today to research your question they closed before I found answers. I must go into the library to use the free service. If I access it from home it is cost prohibitive. They will be closed Monday for the holiday so tomorrow I'll allow myself more time to continue this quest.
Technican: Mitchell 1: Condition Insufficient, Erratic, or No heat or Defrost. Possible cause: 1. Low radiator coolant. 2. Engine overheating. 3. Loose fan belt. 4. Faulty thermostat. 5. Heater core plugged. 6. Loose or misaligned cables. 7. Vacuum hoses collapsed, kinked or crossed. 8. Air flow control doors sticking or binding. 9. Vacuum motor or hose leaks. 10. Defective or kinked water hoses. 11. Blocked air inlet. 12. Vent open You have been there, huh?
Owner: In my endless quest yesterday I was told that the outside vent motor never went bad. I got one at the junk yard because the parts store said it was a dealer part. Wholla it solved the problem. Just for future use.
Technican: Excellent! Great job, Sir! Are you ready to close the question? Thank you,
Technican: Hello, have you decided to close this question? Are we finished here?
Technican: Hello, are you having trouble closing this question? Please advise.
Owner: I DON'T BELIEVE YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE CLOSING THE QUESTION. I FIXED THE CAR AND SUNDAY BEFORE YOU REPLIED AND I TOLD YOU THAT I CHANGED THE OUTSIDE VENT MODULATOR WHICH FIXED MY PROBLEM. BEFORE YOU EVER MENTIONED IT. HOWEVER WITHOUT MY CONSENT MY ACCOUNT WAS CHARGED THE 50.50. THAT IS WRONG AND I MAY HAVE TO PERSUE THIS FURTHER. I APPRECIATE YOU EFFORT BUT YOUR EFFORT DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM.
Technican: Thank you for your reply. On Jan 18th I sent you a message from the Mitchell 1 Data Base. Item 12 states "Vent Open". On the 19th you sent me a message that you found the problem to be the vent. I am not, Sir. I'm just a provider and I do not set prices, I cannot charge you money (ever). I do not get paid unless a customer accepts my answer. Once my answer is accepted, pays me. Not before. So the 38 miles I drove to get you the information I sent you was meant to help you, not cause you grief. I sent you the info a day before you sent me your reply about fixing the vent. That let me believe my effort was helpful. Please write to, Site Administrator, .com and request a refund if you are not satisfied. Thank you,
