1988 Ford Mustang GT Chugging - General
Question: My '88 Mustang GT chugs during acceleration. I have changed the fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, and cap/rotor. It seems to lack power because of this. What may be some things to check? Thanks!

Owner: The idle also seems to be lower when the car is cold. Technican: Did the problems exist before the tune-up? Or was the tune-up an attempt to fix the problem.
Does engine light come on at any time while engine is running? If it does check trouble codes. Owner: I tried the tune-up to fix the problem, but it doesn't help. The engine light doesn't come on. The car seriously lacks power on acceleration throughout the driving range. It seems to pick up when I really push on it, but it's lagging at lower RPM. Technican: You could have a problem with the mass airflow sensor.
What was the condition of the old spark plugs. Were the plugs clean (let me know if there was any white appearance to the plugs, indicates lean fuel mixture) or if plugs were black (sooty deposits from a rich mixture). Owner: The plugs have the white appearance you talked about. The MAF is relatively easy to reach so I am hoping that is the problem. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
