1987 Ford Mustang Won't Start - General
Question: MY CAR WON`T ENGAGE THE STARTER. I USED A VOLT METER TO CHECK THE SOLENIOD, I HAVE POWER AT THE SOLENIOD, I HAVE POWER COMEING TO THE SOLENIOD FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUTT THE STARTER WONT WORK. I SO TRIED REPLACING THE STARTER TWICE NIETHER OF THEM WORKED. IS THERE ANOTHER RELAY OR COULD THE COMPUTER BE THE PROBLEM?

Technican: Did you check solenoid on both sides with the ignition on you need 12v on all three poasts with A good ground at the body to get the starter work
Make sure the starter Hot post is clean & also between the starter & bell houseing. Owner: i did have 12v at all three post and at the starter. does the starter need to be grounded Technican: Yes to the motor where it is bolted on needsto be cleaned if it is the starter is bad.
