1990 Ford Mustang Won't Start - Fuel System
Question: I ran out of gas the other day, after putting 2 gallons in the car still wouldn't start. I came back two days later and tryed to restart it, which failed, so I added another 3 gallons. The ignition cranked but would not start, eventually the battery stopped cranking and when jumped it starting cranking again, but still wouldn't start. Could i have a bigger problem than running out of gas? such as a busted fuel pump? how can i tell?

Technican: Yes it does sound like a fuel pump problem...It could also be a Fuel pump relay or even a fuse. Check your fuse panel first, then, with a friend, and pwr to the battery, have a listen at the fuel tank when someone turns the key to the run position, NOT the START position, listen for a buzz/vib. noise, If no noise heard, look under the hood for the main fuse box with all the relays in it, it will have a few rectangular "boxes" in them, look for the one for the fuel pump, remove it, and try putting another one in its place(WITH THE SAME NUMBERS ON IT AS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAS ON IT)Try the "key cycle" positiion again to the run position and listen at the fuel tank. NO noise...fuel pump, noise and car fires up...replace relay.99 time out of 100, it is the fuel pump. Technican: Could you please settle up you account, also did my info help you?, is there any other info about the prob you had? Thanks in advance Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
