Technican: Clean, inspect, and replace battery cables as necessary- at the battery, solenoid, and engine and body grounds. It wouldn't be a bad idea to install a new solenoid while you're at it. They are relatively inexpensive and don't last forever. I recommend coating all connections with electrical grease or spray (often sold with new batterys).
Note- always disconnect the negative battery cable before working on electrical circuits. Owner: we took the starter out and got it tested and it works fine. we took the push-on connector off of the (passenger side fenderwall)solenoid and hooked jumper cables to it from his truck and it clicked. we also cleaned all of the cables with a wire brush. it doesn't get enough power alone so we hook up jumper cables from his truck and it still does the same thing. Technican: Okay, sounds like time to replace the solenoid. They are problematic, but at least are easy to get to. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
