1987 Ford Ranger Pick-up Won't Start - Fuel System

Question: Have a 1987 Ford ranger super cab with new 2.9 liter V6 engine. The engine was rebuilt with all new parts and includes fuel injectors fuel pumps tank and intenal engine parts. However, when trying to start new engine the engine turns over but will not fire. If starting fluid is used the engine will start. Both fuel pumps and relay have been replaced. The inertia switch has been checked. I have power to the fuel pump relay with still no power to the pumps. Does the igntion module provide the trigger power to the relay to power to pumps? Or if you can provide any further steps i maight have missed.

Technican: Hi: Check for a blown fuse or fusible link. Another thing you might check for is a loose conection or a bad ground. The distributor does not trigger the fuel pump. It will trigger the injectors. The distributor module tells the computer when to fire each injector. There should be a shrader valve on the intake where you can check fuel pressure.

Owner: All fusible links and fuses are fine. have jumped across the ECC relay to hard fire the Fuel Pump relay and still have no power to either fuel pump.

Technican: Hi; Sounds like you have a bad wire. The only way to check this is to trace the wire. Also like I stated before, check your grounds. Other than that a good wiring schematic, a voltmeter, and some time is going to be the only way to fix it. .

Technican: I'm going to get a wiring schematic specific to your 1987 Ranger tomorrow the 29th and get back to you. If that is not fast enough for you, just release the question and I won't be offended. Newer model Rangers show one source of power to the fuel pump relay to be fused and the second source to come from the PCM Power Relay. I'll look into it for you. I think was on the right track but didn't identify the circuits.

Owner: Sorry i recieved the fax and yes there was a ground wire missing. Once the Wire was set the pumps started functioning. Thank you for your assistance. The truck is now running great.
