1988 Ford Ranger Pick-up Hesitating - Drive Train & Driveline
Question: Most of the time, after about an hour on the freeway my truck will lose power and bog down. If I push the gas pedal to the floor it will recover until I let up and try to maintain speed between 45 and 75 with a light throttle. Doesn't happen around town at all. THanks J.

Technican: what you need to do firstcheck for a dirty air cleaner replace fuel filter and use a can of carb cleaner.
then check for a major vaccume leak especially aroud the carb and intake manifold.
the next culprit would be a carb rebuild
hope this helps Owner: Done all those suggestions. sprayed carb cleaner around entire intake(injected), new erg valve, map sensor, water temp sensor, swapped coils, ignition module, 02 sensor, tps, 2 tuneups in a month, and still the problem persists. I have a feeling it is the computer :( Technican: did you change the fuel filter near the fuel tank?
it is definately sounding like a fuel related issue and could very well be your computer sending false signals.
you can reset the computer and go from there also." Owner: Thanks. Can you tell me what happens in the computer when WOT is detected? There is a definite surge of power and the hesitation/bog dissapears for a bit. Technican: the message you sent is uncear what is [WOT]? Owner: Wide open throttle Technican: There is a mix of oxygen rich fuel going into the intake chambers Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
