1997 Ford Ranger Pick-up Won't Start - General
Question: my ranger started overeating. a friend said i had a hose leak. he put coolant in it and said it would be simple to fix the hose but keep coolant in it until he could fix it. was driving when started overheating again and the oil needle started jumping up and down. had just pt oil in it. white smoke was coming out of the tailpipe. pulled into a driveway and turned it off. now it won't start. it sounds like it is going to start fine then just die suddenly.

Technican: Pull the oil dip stick out. If it looks like chocolate milk, sorry my friend, you have just blown the head gasket and most likely warped the head, and a worse case scenario, cracked your block. The white smoke indicates that coolant was entering your exhaust system. You don't state if its' a 4 or 6 cylinder.Either way, its' a costly repair that needs the attention your friend unfortunatly couldnt provide. ...Paul Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
