Ford Taurus Car Answers
Automatic Transmission engages initially but when trying to pickup speed, motor revs up(RPM's go up), but car seems to lose speed, then will kick in but continues off and on for the first 10 minutes. Fine once it warms up some and once up to highway speed.
Doesn't seem to matter about outside temperature. Had Transmission filter and fluid changed, no grindings in old fluid.
Car also has problem with the auto door lock/interior light off feature not always registering and interior light stays on after parking, draining battery. Daytime running lights also quit working, but headlights ok.I drove 90 minutes down the highway, then stopped. Re-started the engine and came back, but stopped to get gas near home. When I turned the key to re-start the dash lights came on a usual, but no sound from under the hood. I shifted the transmission lever back and forth...still silent. As a final "Hail Mary" I opened the hood and grabbed the alternator pully and twisted it to turn the engine over a few degrees. When I turned the key, it started and has been doing fine since. Starter? Starter relay (if there is one on this car)? Gremlins? ThanksTook a short trip recently in my 93 ford taurus, on the interstate doing 65, after going only 3 or 4 miles the car starts to lose power. The speedometer starts dropping and the only way to pick up speed is to take foot completely off accelerator and then press it again. In an 80 mile trip I had to repeat this process about 15 to 20 times. Also each time I exited highway the car tried to die when I stopped at end of exit.I have been told fuel filter or fuel pump is the problem....What do you think? When the front wheels come in contact with ANY road irregularties (bumps) there is a "knock" or "pop" from the front end. It seems to be the front right only. Could this be bad bushings in the plastic stabilizer links? Does the 2001 Taurus have strut bushings that could wear out like earlier Taruses?Turn signals and flashers do not work. Book is missing. What fuse do I change out or could it be something else?blinking air bag light..blinks 3 times..then off for one second..then blinks twice...then off for 3 seconds and pattern repeats throughout the driving session. when it happens, it happens as soon as engine started. happens about 3 out of 5 starts/driving sessions. 2 out of 5 times, no blinking noted other than the short steady light at start. What and where can I check/troubleshoot?Had starter replaced last week on 99 SE Taurus. Today power steering failed and car battery light came on along with overheating of vehicle. Checked under hood and belt nearest to coolent resevior was completely off. Did garage mess this up? What do I do?hi my car will not start, when i turn it off for an hour it was still hot..., and did not start, and it did not start the next day.
i change the battery, modulater, spark plugs, plug wiers, ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor, the car has full power i turn the kek, and the car trys to turn over but no spark can you help me please
760-366-0480I am experiencing a noise/pulsating vibration in both my gas & brake pedal while in drive and while parked. It sounds like a knocking sound. The ABS indicator light has come on a few times, while cruising at 50-60MPH. The ABS light turns off when restarting car.
The brakes/rotors are only 6mos old. Although I have some mechanic experience, I am baffled as to what this can be. Your help is greatly appreciated.I have a 94 Ford Taurus GL. The turn signals are not working at all. They make no clicking sound when being used, nor do the lights function. A friend suggested it might be a flasher. Where is the flasher located so I could replace it and could it be anything else? When I crank over the engine it starts then dies. I have replaced the fuel filter and pump. Could this be a sensor causing the problen?Fuel pump, screen and filter is new. Injector pulses until engine fires and starts, then injector stops. Fuel pump is still operating. if the accelerator is pressed then it will accellerate fine no stuble or hesitation. The TPS, Idle Speed Control Motor are also new. The Manual that I have for this vehicle does not show any specific checks as to reading values on the TPS or the Idle Speed Control Motor. TPS output at basline idle is 1.4 volts, Half throttle is 2.5 volts and full throttle is 5.0 volts. There is little (.1 volt) or no adjustment on the TPS mounting. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.weve taken car to firestone & ford repair shops. they say they have flushed numerous times, changed heater core more than once, changed radiator, changed thermostat. each time we get car back, heater works for about 5 minutes, then is cold again.we had the car at firestone 6 times to no avail. they told us to take to ford &they would pay. took to ford twice. they said to much corrosion. didnt fix & charged 1500.00 to firestone. any suggestions on repairing car. thanksmy 1990 ford taurus wagon is making a whining noise when i turn either left or right. does it have to do with the power steering or something else. thank youI own a ford Taurus station wagon 1995 with 111000 miles. When I bought the car the prevous ower told me that the car stopped twince in hot weather but after bringing it to a meachinic they were aneble to fix the problem. However it happened it to me as well. During hot-warm day driving in state roads after some miles the engin start to fail and then it stops. It seems like there is no gas, but there is gas in the tank. Eventually teh car stops and if I try to turn it on it give some signs and then eventually dyes again. However if I leave it stop for few hours it starts again as nothing happened and I can drive.
When the weather is mild-cold it runs wonderfullyMy car starts hesitating only while driving and only when the engine is completely warm. I had the codes checked and it indicated a misfire on three cylinders #6 and I believe #4 and #5 as well. The wires were inspected and looked fine and I had new motorcraft plugs installed. The hesitation still occurs.
The hesitation becomes so bad that I can not maintain speed. I am able to accelerate again after pulling over restarting the car before the hesitation occurs again.
ThanksI have a problem with the steering wheel shaking at speeds over 55 -60 MPH.I had front ball joints, shock absorber rear, all brakes, rotors in rear, all 4 tyres but the shaking is even worse now, more so after the change of tyres. Please give your opinion as to what could be wrong and how can it be corrected and ifall these change of parts needed.
Thanks3.8 liter engine cooling fan replaced wired in wrong redone wire in right now it will not start, no fire to plugs. The car after warming up will shudder and act like it wants to quit sitting at a light. When I accelerate it seems fine not sluggish. But at the next light it will do it again sometimes so hard it feels like someone just rear ended me. What could cause this? Car seems to run fine otherwise and no warning lights have come on. Car has 88, 000 miles.About a month ago the cruise-control stopped working. I didn't think anything of it until the "Service Engine Soon" light came on, the speedometer stopped working, and the shifting for the transmission became erratic and labored.
The shifting for the transmission is very hard from 1st to 2nd, . Once it catches, the other shifts are hard but do catch. Fluid level is okay.I just bought this car used about three weeks ago. It has 79, 000 miles on it. The check engine light has been coming on periodically. It flickers on, and then the next time I use the car it is off. Sometimes two days will go by and it won't come on, and the third day it will come back on. The first week, a mechanic used a computer to check out the light and said there was "no code". The engine has been running fine until today. I offered a ride to a friend and her three children, and I noticed that the car lagged with the extra weight. I had to press much harder than usual on the gas pedal to get to 65 miles per hour. I also noticed that the engine sounded as though it were revving higher than usual. The RPM's were just above '2'. After I dropped them off, the engine continued to rev higher (I heard that slight whine). I noticed that the check engine light had come back on. I also noticed that I had used an 1/8th of a tank of gas going only about 16 miles. I did have the AC on.ABS is going off during last 5 secs of braking or under 10mph trend seems, what could be the problem?? rotors/pads/calipers are all newwhat is the exact location of the 1992 ford taurus transmission computer? Our turn signals and hazard lights no longer work. We believe we need to replace the flashers, however we do not know where they are located and the owner's guide does not include this information. Can you help?I saw this on the site previously and your answer said mountain driving heats up rotors. Sad part is I don't drive in the mountains.
Problem starts with steering wheel vibration on light braking. Then over time vibration shows up in steering wheel at around 60mph even with no braking, and it's worse on light braking. I keep changing rotors and pads and it's okay for about 5 or 6 months. Then it starts all over again even though the rotors and pads are far from worn out. This has been going on for 4 years. Any ideas?Cannot find Fuel pump relay switch or fuse.
there is no electric to fuel pump or inertia switch97 Taurus Gl, 150, 000 miles. Engine or Trans will sometimes produce a loud almost electric like winding sound when accelerating. Also Accelerating or on the highway accelerating it will sometimes start acting up and feel like your are driving into a very strong wind or thru water. Please tell me it's not the tranny?3.0 Engine - auto
DTC - P0760 Shift solenoid "C"
drives OK except stays at about 3000 RPM on the freeway - used to be 2200 at about the same speed
Where is the solenoid and
can I test it (how?) and
can a semi functional mechanic change it out,
if not what should it cost to get it fixed.
ThanksInterior lights stay on after doors are closed. Tried adjusting the knob on the dash, still stay on. Door locks lock and unlock while driving and alarm sounds. Can you help? Thanks. My speedometer stops working while I'm driving and then I sometimes feel loss of the power steering.
and then the service engine light goes on. And then the next day it works just fine. And sometimes just after it happens it comes back....My mechanic thinks it's a speed sensor. I asked a ford dealership what it might be, and he said could also, be a multifunction swith. Would anyone happen to know what causes that...thank you JimLow oil pressure light comes on. Can't find low oil pressure switch to replace it. It has a3.8 liter engine. My 1998 taurus is missing out it is not a steady miss but is quite frequent. The door locking mechanism has rotated up so that it is now impossible to close the door. How do I reset the locking mechanism so that it properly latches the door shut? Thanks for helpMy drivers door control for the windows failed to allow me to raise the window and none of the windows work from any door control. Also the intermitent windshield wiper control no longer works. Door mirrors and locks work fine. I have checked fuses and relays under the steering column and near the radiator. The motor is good in the door itself because I was able to 'hot wire' it back up closed, through the control plug. I disassembled the control and tested its continuity and all seemded okay??!!Driver's window will intermittently not respond to attempts to raise or lower from the master switch. All other windows continue to function. When the switch is actuated, one click is audible, the sound coming from the dash. If the switch is fully depressed to actuate automatic full-open, two clicks are heard. Problem seems to appear when the car has been parked overnight or for an extended period. This occurs from any window position, from fully closed to fully open. After the car has been in service for an hour or so, the function returns.
The problem was diagnosed by a Ford dealer technician as a bad switch - but I was skeptical and did not authorize replacement.
With help from a friend who is knowledgable, I replaced the masterswitch from a junkyard source and verified acceptable function. Unfortunately - but as I suspected would happen - the intermittancy remains.
Seeking your advice on how best to solve this problem.Right Front Door Electric Door lockmy ford taurus needed 2 jump starts in june 2003. on the second jump start the Horn went wild and then shut off.
now everytime i use the horn while the cruise control is switched on the Fuse for the horn gets blown.
i have recently gotten the 30k ford service and had them look into the problem with the electrical diagnostics and they could not find the problem.
what can i do?The car wont go into any gear. I already replaced the foot brake switch. And fuse #1 keeps blowing out. Brake lights also stopped working. Any Ideas?
1994 SHO automaticI changed the battery, though the power window and door locks gradually got less and less functional, to thepoint that they would not lock, and now the car does not start....upon turning the key all the interior lights go completely blank, but the moment the ignition key is switched off, all the lights come back on, so what gives????I install a 2001 AX4N trans in my 97 Taurus. Everything work out fine until I check the speedometer. It runs at 70 MPH at a idle. Then cut the car off after 110 MPH. Is there a fix for this.
Thanks J.Tcan`t get car to run, was installing remote starter from bulldog security could`nt finish so I took all components off to drive home, car was cranking but would not fire, I believe it the anti-theft causing this, how can I resetInterior lights wont go off, and ran battery down. At first it was due to door ajar switch apparently being stuck, so I sprayed wd40 on all door latches and door ajar light went off, but interior lights stay on. Then I traded a relay in the fuse block with the interior light relay to see if it was the relay. Interior lights stayed on. I even unhooked battery for a few minutes in case computer needed to reset. Currently I have pulled interior light relay out to keep lights off and not drain battery. Problem just started. What did I miss?I hear a low roar coming from the left front and is more prevalent when coasting. Please can you tell me the location of the fuel pump relay, no one seems to know it's locationCar coasts a very long time when I let off the throttle from any speed in gear, especially 30-45 mph. Tach doesn't return for many many seconds back to normal idle speed. Also the engine idles at approx 1000 rpm. It this a "normal" thing or do I have a fixable problem?Just had the Rack/Pinion and Power Steering pump replaced since the rack leaked and the pump fried. Now even though the rack is fixed and the new pump has lots of fluid the pump is making a loud moaning noise when turning in either direction. It is more pronounced when sitting still or at low speeds but it almost sounds like the pump is sick. Note that the steering seems to be working fine, the pump is just really noisy (moaning sound).my mechanic has asked me to take out my fuse #40 the front one in the fuse box under the hood, every night so as I can start my car. This goes on for over 5 months and he has not found the problem. When I leave it in over night my car won't start.recntly involved in an accident with damage to the drivers side rear door area in front of the rear wheel. no visable line break. where is the fuel pump located and is there a reset button? any suggestionsI recently changed my altenator and battery. First
altenator started making noise and battery light would come on when ideling. But would go away when accelerated. Took altenator and battery to test. Defective altenator. Put new one in. Can hear it again. Duralast-Import brand. Maybe bad batch?? Or did I miss something. Voltage regulator???
Thank YouVehicle drives fine until it warms up. Can go indefinetley until I come to a stop. Transmission disengages. Motor runs. Even revving it, car is disengaged no matter what gear it is placed in. Acts like in neutral. Car cools down, transmission re-engages and I can drive until it warms up and I stop again.I have a 96 Taurus wagon with the 3.0 engine. Trani is the AXOD I believe. I have a pulley making a loud squeal noise. Not like an old belt but similiar. At a closer look the pulley has a small chip about 1/4 inch in size. It seems to have a slight wobble. Could this make all that racket? Also, where can I find a pulley diagram online to find out which one it is. Lastly, the car has also developed a small oil leak now. Is that related? Cheers!I just change engines on my 1988 Taurus 3.0. The original had 254000 miles on it and I aquired an engine out of a wrecked 1992 Probe. The Probe engine has 54000 miles on it. I changed all of the necessary parts form the original engine to the replacement ie. timing chain cover, oil pan, valve covers, flywheel. It is now back in the car, but I cannot get the engine to start. I have checked for spark which it has, it seems to have fuel present, and I have checked and double checked the timing. When I attempt to start it, it backfires out of the air intake. Is there some other recalibration that is necessary to complete this type of engine swap. Thank YouI have a 1993 Ford Taurus SHO. Just replaced the alternator and battery. When replacing the alternator and hooking the wiring back to it I found the black wire taped off, I don't know where it goes. The alternator still will not charge. Can you help? The electric locks won't work, and I don't have an owner's manual with a fuse diagram. Where can I find a fuse diagram? When breaking there is a kind of a lurch and when speeding up it doesn't want to shift up for quite a while. Along with this, the speedometer began wavering and then quit. Also, the break lights and turn signal lights went out but it was just a coincidence because it was only the bulbs since replacing those fixed them. All of the fuses were/are fine.
We've gotten different answers from different people(Ford dealership, Transmission shop(s), general mechanic (they fixed the bulbs). Some even wanted to say that all of those problems were connected. ??? Help...before we get taken to the cleaners by some unscrupulous mechanic. The speedometer quits working once in a while and the check engine light came on. I plugged my car computer into it and the code said vehicle speed sensor malfunction. I bought a new sensor but can't find where it is.When I turn my wipers off they won't return to park position, they start to return to park but insted they go to the maximum vertical position and then stop, all other functions work correctly. They used to return to park somtimes but now not at all.1992 taurus stalls when idling and sometimes when driving. has stalled going down the road just as if someone turns the key off then after a few seconds it picks back up and resumes normally.this does not trigger a check engine light. also surges when idling ecspecially when the engine is cold.rough idle. The engine idles too fast. Can not find vacuum leak. What should the vacuum be at idle? What other problem could cause this?KOEO key on engine off test returns fault code 337 "EGR sensor circuit above maximum voltage" Does this mean I need to replace the EGR valve position sensor? If not, what does it mean? engine is 3.2L SHO, VIN "P"
thanksHi my name is phil. this might be a stupid question but how many wires are supposed to be coming from my alternator. my alternator fried itself after i changed the belt, but the terminal that is moving around (causing the batt light to come on) has no wire comming from it and i cant find one dangeling anywhere? any ideas?,Battery lights come on always . Changed the Battery put new one . Still comes. Voltage on battery terminals 14.3 volts when engine runningTemperature gauge about half way mark and engine smells "hot" after about 30 miles and takes a long time to cool down have never missed an oil change and service @ 3 month intervals - have had head gaskets replaced, new water pump, thermostat, new spark plugs, wires, DPFE sensor & speed sensor replaced, power steering pump relaced twice- raditor flushed twice - had a lot of rust in it - engine feels like it is "smothering" when driving - my mechanic hates to see me drive up- any clues??? car has 120, 000 miles on itHello, I was driving my car and then the battery light came on and then after about half a day the abs light came on then the theft deterrent light came on and then went off. The AC went on and off as did the radio. Then while driving the car stalled then started up again 3 times then died completely and would not start again. I had it towed to a safe place and checked it out. Advice from friends suggest alternator, battery and a short in the electical system. I repalced the battery because it was old and the car started. I took it to AutoZone to check the Battery and alternator and they said they were both fine. How do i check to see if it is an electrical short or not and how do I fix it? Thank you for your time in this matter. ChrisHey, I have a Taurus SHO. I'm thinking there might be a problem with the PCM. The check engine light keeps coming on. Everytime it does, there is a different code from the Snap-On scanner. I'm a mechanic, yet I can't figure this one out. I've always just replaced the part that the scanner/computer said was malfunctioning. The CE light would go off, then come on a short time later with a different code/problem.
So far, I've been through 3 of 8 new ignition coil (CPP), a new EGR valve, new EGR valve sensor, new ECT sensor, 2 new alternators, a few relays, and now supposedly the IMRC is stuck open and there is a problem with the SAI circuit (low voltage). Do you think a PCM would take care of the problem? The car is awesome, but I'm ready to dump it and take a HUGE loss, unless someone can help me.
Thank you for ANY advice possible!!!!fan stuck on defrost high. no heat control always blows hot airMY 1995 TAURUS SHO TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS HARD AND UPSHIFTS SOFT FROM 1ST T0 2ND.I SO NOTICED THAT WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO OVERDRIVE IT SOMETIMES RUNS AT DIFFERENT RPMS AT THE SAME MPH. WHEN DOWN SHIFTING IT SEEMS TO SHIFT AT THE WRONG TIMES. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE TP SENSOR HAS BEEN CHANGED. COULD SUCH A CHANGE BE CAUSING THIS ? I CAN REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION IF NEEDED BUT I AM NOT SURE WHICH ONE I HAVE. I CLED LOC DEER AND THEY TOLD ME IT IS A AXODE BUT WHEN I RAISED THE CAR THE TRANS PAN SAYS IT IS A AXOD SHO.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.Will the transmission from a 1988 Taurus with a 3.8L motor fit a 1988 Taurus with a 3.0L motor?After parking my car, I nolonger can shift it out of park. I tested as far as I could and found that there is no power making it's wat to the wire that feeds my brakes and high beams. If I run a jumper from another fuse to the one for my brakes, everything works fine. Where does that power come from and how do I check it.I beleive my 89 Taurus SHO starter just went. Where is the starter located and is it hard to replace?My 1999 Ford Taurus will not start at times, just cranks over but, will not start. Sometimes if I remove the fuel cap it will restart right away and other times it will not restart but, if I wait approx 20 minutes it will restart. When this situation occurs, I do not here the fuel pump cycle with the key on & off, as soon as I here the pump cycle it will start. I have tried using a jumper wire to bypass the fuel shutoff inertia switch with no prevail, I have also tried a different fuel pump relay in the power distribution box with no prevail. The car has 71, 000 miles on it with a new fuel filter and the transmission was just rebuilt about 1 month ago at a reputable Ford dealer. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but when it runs there is no problems in either city or highway driving. I now am wondering if there might be a wiring problem when the transmission was reinstalled after rebuild, such as a ground not reinstalled or maybe a pinched harness.Owned Ford Taurus for 5-6 years had only 62, 000 miles when purchased. Now have 124, 000 miles. No major problems with vehicle until about two-three weeks ago. No vibration up to 45-50 miles. Hit 50 to 55 vibration reduces alittle. Vibration picks up again at 55-65 MPH. Not much vibration betwwen 55-65 if I keep it at that speed. Also a engine noise or rattle. Noise DOES NOT increase or decrease whenn accelerating. Just there recently. Had up on lift. Cannot find anything broken. New tires on front. New plugs, cables Distr Cap last fall. Checked catalitic Converter thinking it may be plugged, seems ok. During winter it started to die if I didn't keep foot on pedal. First time it ever did that. Since weather warming up don't have that problem now. Maybe bad lifter, don't know. Engine temp running normal. Has been a great car up to now. Very little repairs needed, replaced muffler and tail pipe, Left PVC boot and axle and one strut (right rear). Considering what I have read on your site, I feel lucky with my Taurus so far. Also no excess oil drip or tran drip. Trans does not slip, grind or anthing. No excess smoke out of exhaust.My wife's 96 Taurus is bleeding my wallet dry. We've put brakes all the way around it twice in 2 years. I just spent $700 for new rims because the tires kept going flat, something about the rims "going bad"? And 4 new tires within the last 3 months, and its due for a timing belt. Now, on my way home from work with it last Friday the transmission seemed to stick when I first took off from my parking spot, then it felt like it bound up coming to a stop. I work only 4 miles from home and on the way the O/D light started blinking. So Saturday morning I went to take it to the local garage, less than 1 mile away, the car barely moved under its own power. Mechanic says the tranny is shot. $1775 to rebuild it. This car is almost 10 years old, just about 200K miles, with a rebuilt engine @ 85K miles. Should I scrap the car? I hear this year was bad for Transmission problems? We're trying to buy our first home within the next month, I just bought a new 2005 500 and not sure I want to spend another $20K on a new car, but not sure I want to sink more $ into this old one. Should I get a 2nd opinion on the tranny? Or does this sound like it's dead?"will not go over 3500 rpm. plugs fuel filter new fuel pressure 30 psi. 1.0-1.1 ohms on primary 0f ignition moduleI just replaced the battery about a month ago. Was working fine. Car wasn't started for about 3 weeks. Turned ignition and got nothing, no click, no lights, nada. Was able to jump, car started ok the rest of the day. Next morning, nothing again. Help!There is a rubbing/groaning sound in steering column. I feel the viberation through steering wheel. Happens first thing in am when turning as I back up and turn in either direction. More intense when colder weather is present. Not as noticable during subsequent trips as day goes on.I cannot start my 2000 Ford Taurus. When I attempt to start the car, all I get is a clicking sound.my transmission seems to downshift when driving on the highway usually above 45 mph. i had the vehicle tested at a transmission shop and was told there was a possibility of two different sensors causing the problem. one of the sensors mentioned was a shift position sensor. where can i purchase this sensor and where is it specifically located on the vehicleengine lt came on and ford dealer computer showed 2 sensors bad and was replaced. Prior to replacing while driving even pace car would start acting like it was goint to die/almost like running out of gas then after a minute or so continued driving it would be ok. sensors helped a wk or so and started again took to garage he looked at cooling sensor it was fine. he replaced fuel filter and spark plugs which needed replacing; drove about a wk and it is starting again. It is like it starts missing. I put 93 oct in it a few times prior to these episodes; brakes need rotors and pads bad; also before the above events I thought I smelled something different coming thru vents where air cond like a coolant smell/also on 2 occassions car warm once and cool once after going in store and back out upon starting smoke has come out from under front part of hood/When you get started driving it is fine again. Temp guage stays normal and no lts on.I have a problem with a shimmy at highway speeds 50+ and sometimes steering wheel plays a little side to side; I notice sometimes that at speeds vibration is there; and then back of the gas vibration is little worst on the steering wheel and car. Things that I have check;
Replace the tires and balance; also road force check
no bent wheel
Had the front end check, no problems
My question is where is the problem:
Is it the inner cv joint, outer tie-rod, balljoint,
vibration damper, rack and pinion steeringCheck engine light on and showing code P1744.The engine races. While performing an underhood giggle and shake, I found a broken hose connector on the MAP sensor. I replaced that (ouch). My daughter's 94 Taurus has developed a prounounced hard downshift upon stopping after driving over 45 mph. It doesn't do this at all when driving at low speeds. Coincidentally the speedomete has taken to intermitent operation. It has about 100k miles on it.What can I check or repair short of removal, R/R? Thanks.Hi, I have a question about a Ford Taurus. Sometimes it runs and at other times cuts out and quits, not sure if it's electrical or fuel. The distributor was taken out to check and then put back in. Now the car doesn't want to start, just pops around. Is it possible to put the distributor in wrong? Do the gears have to mess again in the same way it came out? Can it be adjusted only by turning the distributor after its in? I would be grateful for any advice you could offer, thanks
WayneMy 94 Taurus SHO is leaking some kind of fluid from around the firewall side of the engine. I can't tell where its coming from, but it leaks onto the catylitic converter shroud. I see no evidence of leakage in the upper end "cam shroud" or whatever you call it. Any help would be great, thanks.
P.S. DOC Yamaha 3.2 w/ 153, 000 miles.I have a 1987 Taurus lx station wagon the other day the fornt passenger side disc brake seized up. the caliper is only 2 years old. It let loose by the next day when I pulled the tire off again. A friend told me to put it in reverse and hit the brakes hard. I did and i twasn't seized up when I took the tire off. He said this reset the brakes. I was wondering if he's just feeding me some BS. I just wanted to know if this is a problem with the car or if I should replace the caliper. Any help you could give will be appreciated.
I have a 1995 Tarus XL 3.8. At 61, 000 it blew a head gasket and the engine seized.
I opted to just swap the engine from a runing 1994 GL 3.8. I was told by Ford this was a doable.
I exchanged the entire assembly. Engine, tranny, driveline struts etc....
The only electrical that I switched was the control module on the front left side.
I noticed that the 94' does not have an oil sending unit. (Located above the oil plug).
The engine will turn over but not start. Sounds like it is grounding out. Their is fuel pressure.
Stevemy car keeps hesitating and i think there might be water in my gas & tank my car will do both hesitating and chugging i want to no whats wrongHello,
Ihave a 93 Tarus thats giving me transaxel problems. When its cold it shifts like new, once warm first to second is a hard shift but the rest are fine. Also once warm there is a growling noise coming from the side pan when the car is in P or N, give it a little gas and it goes away.
