1993 Ford Taurus Making Noise - Drive Train & Driveline
Question: Hello,
Ihave a 93 Tarus thats giving me transaxel problems. When its cold it shifts like new, once warm first to second is a hard shift but the rest are fine. Also once warm there is a growling noise coming from the side pan when the car is in P or N, give it a little gas and it goes away.

Technican: When was the last transmission service performed; flush, fill, and gasket?
The side pan of the transmission? Or? Owner: Not really sure ont the flush-fill.The noise is 100% comming from the side pan. No check engine light so i am assuming the TPS is good. One more thing, disconect the electrical connection at the top of trans and noise stops plug it up and its still there. Technican: I am unable to access my database to provide the information you need on this problem. I'll release the question. Technican: Hello, Are you unplugging the multi pin connector on top of the trans.?This really sonds like your clutch packs are worn, so much so they rattle at TCC lockup. With the connector unplugged the TTC solenoid is innactive so you dont notice it.This is not a job for the driveway and it's only a matter of time bfore they wear completely.I recommend changing the trans oil and looking for metal in the pan/filter and magnet. If you see metal(very fine almost looks like anti-sieze)it's time for overhaul.Let me know how you make out. Technican: Mike, I've read the dialog offered by others and for me to try to help I'll need to know:
What series Taurus...LX, GL, SHO...?
What size engine?
Is the noise at idle (warm) still present if you set the park brake before shifting to Park? Is the vehicle parked on an incline? Is the 1-2 (warm) shift harsh even on light acceleration?
Please advise. Technican: Still waiting to hear from you, sir. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
