1997 Ford Taurus Malfunction - Electrical & Lighting Systems
Question: Interior lights wont go off, and ran battery down. At first it was due to door ajar switch apparently being stuck, so I sprayed wd40 on all door latches and door ajar light went off, but interior lights stay on. Then I traded a relay in the fuse block with the interior light relay to see if it was the relay. Interior lights stayed on. I even unhooked battery for a few minutes in case computer needed to reset. Currently I have pulled interior light relay out to keep lights off and not drain battery. Problem just started. What did I miss?

Technican: do you think you could have accidently turned on the light switch?
it happens to the best of us
if that is not the case you may need to check each door switch for a short once you pull off the connectors the relay or light should be deactivated
hope this helps Owner: You were right on. In all the crawling under the dash to fix the door ajar problem, I must have bumped the dimmer switch on. Thanks for helping me solve this. Of course, I now feel like an idiot for fixing the door ajar problem and then missing the little things, like bumping the dimmer switch - but at least I can go to bed now. Definitely worth it to not have to worry about it anymore. Thanks Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
