1998 Ford Taurus Hesitating - General
Question: Automatic Transmission engages initially but when trying to pickup speed, motor revs up(RPM's go up), but car seems to lose speed, then will kick in but continues off and on for the first 10 minutes. Fine once it warms up some and once up to highway speed.
Doesn't seem to matter about outside temperature. Had Transmission filter and fluid changed, no grindings in old fluid.
Car also has problem with the auto door lock/interior light off feature not always registering and interior light stays on after parking, draining battery. Daytime running lights also quit working, but headlights ok.

Technican: I thought one of the other techs would pick this question up.
You can try an additive like TransX to see if you correct a potential sticking problem with a cool/cold valve body etc.
Beyond this you'll likely need to have a transmission shop take the car for a test drive and give an estimate. As with any service you'll want to make certain they have a good reputation.
I can give you a list of service bulletins but didn't find any that apply. Would you like to view them? Owner: Would this problem be caused if the filter needs to be replaced or if too much fluid was added? Technican: If the filter has never been replaced it can restrict flow and cause shifting problems.
Was to much fluid added before the problem occurred? Owner: As far as I can tell, the over fill happened when the filter and fluid was changed, but the problem was happening prior to the change. Technican: Does this problem occur if you let the car idle for ten minutes? Continuing to let it slip may cause permanent damage (assuming there is not already).
