1999 Ford Taurus Won't Start - Fuel System

Question: My 1999 Ford Taurus will not start at times, just cranks over but, will not start. Sometimes if I remove the fuel cap it will restart right away and other times it will not restart but, if I wait approx 20 minutes it will restart. When this situation occurs, I do not here the fuel pump cycle with the key on & off, as soon as I here the pump cycle it will start. I have tried using a jumper wire to bypass the fuel shutoff inertia switch with no prevail, I have also tried a different fuel pump relay in the power distribution box with no prevail. The car has 71, 000 miles on it with a new fuel filter and the transmission was just rebuilt about 1 month ago at a reputable Ford dealer. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but when it runs there is no problems in either city or highway driving. I now am wondering if there might be a wiring problem when the transmission was reinstalled after rebuild, such as a ground not reinstalled or maybe a pinched harness.

Owner: Hello, I have reviewed what you faxed me but, this material is not helping me much. I really do believe that it is a wiring situation or a fuel pump just going on the fritz. Any possibliltiy you fax me wiring diagrams and replacment procedures for the fuel pump? Your help is much appreciated in this matter, please use a cover letter when you fax. Thanks Jeff
