2002 Ford Taurus Vibration - General
Question: I have a problem with the steering wheel shaking at speeds over 55 -60 MPH.I had front ball joints, shock absorber rear, all brakes, rotors in rear, all 4 tyres but the shaking is even worse now, more so after the change of tyres. Please give your opinion as to what could be wrong and how can it be corrected and ifall these change of parts needed.
Thanks

Technican: Have the motor mounts and inner tie rods checked. If the tires have been replaced recently, you may want to have the balance rechecked. If possible have them balanced on the vehicle. Also, check for a possible bent wheel.
Paul Owner: Thanks for your advise.I forgot to mention tie roads were also changed. As regards to balance on vehicle, is this the way it is done everywhere or do I have to look for specific places where it is done?
Also where do they check for bent rim. Thanks Technican: No, not every shop has the capability to do this type of balance.A good tire shop should be able to assit you.As far as the bent wheel, this also should easily be dectected when the balance is done.A tire on a bent wheel will not balance.I have seen where some shops have tried to compensate for this by using more weights.
