2003 Ford Taurus Vibration - Chassis, Suspension & Steering
Question: I have a problem with a shimmy at highway speeds 50+ and sometimes steering wheel plays a little side to side; I notice sometimes that at speeds vibration is there; and then back of the gas vibration is little worst on the steering wheel and car. Things that I have check;
Replace the tires and balance; also road force check
no bent wheel
Had the front end check, no problems
My question is where is the problem:
Is it the inner cv joint, outer tie-rod, balljoint,
vibration damper, rack and pinion steering

Technican: Can you feel any play in the steering when turning back and forth while sitting still?
Where are you feeling the vibration, is this in the steering wheel, brake pedal, or the entire car? Technican: BTW- the tires have been rotated during repair attempts and a high speed balance performed? Owner: yes, the tires have been rotated Owner: vibration in the steering wheel and the seat; also the driver side seat, also. Technican: If you have play in the steering wheel the first thing you want to check is the tie- rods followed by everything else in the steering/linkage.
Does the sound change by any chance when you go around corners?
