1992 Ford Tempo Stalling - Engine

Question: My 1992 Ford Tempo stalls when driving. I wait a couple of minutes or more and it will then start again. We have replaced the ignition module. HELP! Kathy

Technican: Couple of questions. Did you replace the Ignition Module because it failed when tested? Have you replaced fuel filter recently? Have you checked the Coil when cold and then when hot to see if the coil is breaking down when hot? Please answer these questions and we can really start to troubleshoot your problem. Al

Owner: Sorry, I should have written that the coil has also been replaced. The module was replaced because replacing the coil didn't solve the problem. Kathy

Technican: But you did not test these items before replacement. Lets try not to do too much of that, can get expensive. With that said have you thought about replacing the fuel filter. Also here is a thought, take the gas cap off and start the car and see what effect that has.. I think you have a fuel starvation problem. This can act like electrical problem and is easier to troubleshoot thru (and cheaper). Try the gas cap trick.. if that works kewl.. if not replace the fuel filter and try again. Please do not do more than one repair at a time before testing. Let me know.. Al
