1987 Ford Thunderbird Other - Heating & Cooling System

Question: i have a 1987 t- bird 2.3L turbo that is hard to crank and will not idle.i have to keep my foot on the gas to make it run, then it acts like it has no power.also the ac compressor will not kick in.checked voltage at the plug behind glove box and got nothing.

Owner: i don't when the the last tune up was. my brother bought the car from a girl next door to him and it had these problems then, she was moving back north and didn't have the money to take it the shop. he tried to fix it and couldn, t, so i bought the car and i'am trying to fix it.the car has new plug wires and a new cam cover gasket, apparently she had some work done on it recently.i checked the plug wires for the correct firing order and they were ok.

Owner: So I guess the next questions. Have you pulled any or all the plugs to make sure they are clean and gapped? Recommend replacing the fuel filter (probably full of junk) and how about the fuel.. how fresh is the gas in the tank? We go from here.

Owner: hi, al no, i have't checked the sparkplugs, but i will and will change the fuel filter and put in new gas. will reply when it is done. thanks, dale

Owner: HI ! I DID L THAT STUFF OVER THE WEEKEND AND THE CAR STILL RUNS THE SAME. WHATS OUR NEXT STEP! DE

Technican: great. I assume that by your response there was no change in the way the car runs... that is not great, but we can deal with it. so far we know the plugs are ok, the wires are ok, fuel is ok. Have you attempted to adjust the timing? Can you tell if the rotor on the distributor is pointing at Nr1 cylinder when at top deal center and when the timing mark is at 0 deg. You might have the distributor off one tooth. Since we are not sure who did what, we will not assume anything. Lets go from there. Al ps. I have not forgotten about the problem with the A/C.
